Day 1
Depart USA - Your grand journey to Tibet begins aboard your selected jetliner to China.
Day 2
Arrive Beijing - Arrive in China's capital, a modern city that retains much of its past. You will be met by our representative and transferred to your deluxe hotel.
Day 3
Beijing - Your first stop today is the impressive Tiananmen Square, heart of Beijing. Then on to the Forbidden City. Tour the tranquil Summer Palace, the famous resort of Empresses Ci Xi. This evening, you are invited to a "Peking Duck" dinner party. B, L, D
Day 4
Beijing - Stroll along the ancient promenades of the Great Wall, one of the world's major wonders. Later, motorcoach along the Sacred Way to visit the Ming Tombs, resting place of 13 emperors. Tonight, a famed cultural performance caps the evening's pleasures. B, L, D
Day 5
Beijing / Chengdu - Tour the Hutong, old Beijing's narrow lanes, by bicycle or a three-wheeled pedicab. Visit a family living in the Hutong. Then fly to Sichuan Province's capital Chengdu in afternoon. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. B, L, D
Day 6
Chengdu / Lhasa - Take an early morning flight to the "roof of the world' - Tibet. After arrival in the Sacred Land, at Lhasa, also know as the " Place of the Deity,'' you will be transferred to the hotel. Relax in the hotel in the afternoon to acclimatize to the high altitude. B, L, D
Day 7
Lhasa - Visit the Potala Palace, the legendary palace that is globally synonymous with Tibet. Built on Mt. Marpori in 637 AD by King Songtsen Gampa, it was reconstructed and expanded to its present size during the 17th century by the 5th Dalai Lama. This 13-storied citadel with its 1,000 rooms, served as the political and religious center of Tibet and was home to successive Dalai Lamas. Later in the day, visit Jokhang Temple, Tibet's most sacred shrine. Jokhang was founded at about the same time as the Potala; its name was originally Rasa, place of the goat, which was subsequently changed to Lhasa, place of the Deity. The Jokhang houses Tibet's most precious religious relic, the 1.5 meter-tall image of Jowo Rinpoche. Encircling the Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Square (and its radiate streets) is the center of the old town -- much as it was centuries ago, where you may get a feel of local life, bargain for handicrafts and walk through history. Day 8
Lhasa - Visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Thekchenling Monastery, both characteristic of the Yellow sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit to Norbulingka, the summer palace of Dalai Lama. B, L, D
Day 9
Gyantse - Drive to Gyantse via the sacred Yamdrok Yutso Lake -- Tibet's talisman. In Gyantse, you will have plenty of time to enjoy this well-preserved rural town and its many sights such as the Gyantse Dzong fortress and the Gyantse Kumbum, the Stupa of 100,000 Deities. The Kumbum is one of Tibet's most outstanding artistic achievments. Overnight in Gyantse Hotel. B, L, D
Day 10
Zhigatse - Take in the incredible Himalayan landscape on your drive to Tibet's second largest city, Zhigatse. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lamas, and enjoy the customs of western Tibet. B, L, D Overnight in Zhigatse Hotel.
Day 11
Lhasa - Follow the Yarlung Tsangpo River (a headwater of the mighty Brahmaputra, and the mother river of Tibet) back to Lhasa. See the landscape that has inspired explorers and travelers around the world. B, L, D
Day 12
Lhasa / Chengdu / Shanghai - Fly from Lhasa to Chengdu for your connecting flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. You may wish to rest in your room or choose to stroll along the Bund and the fascinating Huang Pu Harbor. You may also like to take a walk to Nanjing Road, Shanghai's shopping center. B, L
Day 13
Shanghai - This city is introduced to you through a city tour to Yu Yuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and later a visit to Children's Palace. Tonight, enjoy a thrilling post-dinner acrobatic show. B, L, D
Day 14
Shanghai / USA - Transfer to the airport for your flight home. B
