Itinerary

Day 1
Upon arrival in Bangkok airport, greeting and transfer to hotel. Evening group gets acquainted with each other, the guide, and the programme.

Day 2
Bangkok - Breakfast in hotel, followed by 1/2 day city tour. Visit the Royal Palace grounds, the center of power for over 200 years; The temple of the Emerald Buddha, the country's most revered Buddha image. Later transfer to domestic terminal for 1/2 hour flight to Chiang Mai in the Northern Region.

Day 3
Chiang Mai - Breakfast in hotel, followed by a city tour. Visit the amazing Wat (temples); Drive to ancient Wat Suandok. In the evening enjoy a traditional Khantoke dinner and Culture Show.

Day 4
Doi Suthep Temple - After breakfast drive up into the mountains to visit this amazing temple grounds. 3,520 feet above sea level. Inside the temples golden pagoda are holy Buddha relics. Take some time to experience the beautiful panoramic views of the region.

Day 5
Leave Chiangmai by pickup truck along picturesque mountain roads with curves flanked by steep drops. Stop and enjoy lunch at a waterfall. Continue through the mountainous route to a natural hot spring. Begin your trek the right way with a refreshing dip in natural mineral waters and start through the mountains to a Karen tribe village. Here lifestyles have remained traditional in coexistance with the elements. Dinner and accommodation at the village.

Day 6
Wake up to the smell of open fire kitchens, wood cabins and mountain air. After breakfast begin a steep trek through the dense forest to the next Karen village. Most of these villages are only accessible by foot. Lunch to be served upon arrival at the next village. After enjoy an elephant safari along the forest to the Lahu village. Dinner and overnight at the village. Experience the hospitality of the tribe members and learn more about traditional lifestyles.

Day 7
Take a refreshing river bath and don't worry about getting dry: enjoy bamboo rafting along the Mae Tang river. Learn to navigate or just keep steady as you head downstream. At the drop off point arrive at Shan in time for lunch. Leisure time to explore the beauty of landscape. Hop back on the pickup truck for the return transfer to Chiangmai.

Day 8
Chiang Mai - Leisure day to explore and shop at the many colorful stores and shops. Thailand is famous for a variety of incredible manufactured and handicraft goods at incredibly reasonable prices.

Day 9
Departure - Breakfast in hotel. Depart airport on your connecting flight back to U.S.A.
